Dear Esteemed Faculty and Delegates,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to our 13th annual conference, set to take place in Doha from January 16-18. As a junior at Harvard College studying Government and Modern Middle Eastern Studies, I recognize the importance of holding a conference that strengthens the ability to analyze complex issues from multiple perspectives. I am humbled by our delegates’ continued capacity for kindness and passion as I go into my third year working for Harvard Model Congress Middle East.
Harvard Model Congress Middle East (HMCME) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run entirely by Harvard University students who are passionate about politics, international relations, and international education. Above all, HMCME is committed to providing an immersive educational experience for high school students from across the globe. Over the past thirteen years, we have worked with the leaders of tomorrow to tackle sensitive political questions today, under the close mentorship of Harvard students.
Since its founding in 2012, HMCME has brought together countless high school students from around the world to debate and discuss key global issues. However, HMCME 2026 is a pivotal year where the Executive Board is rolling out many new initiatives. For starters, we are excited to share our first conference theme: “Diplomacy in the Age of Innovation,” which pushes delegates to explore how diplomacy must adapt to meet new challenges in a world where technology, AI, and global connections are rapidly transforming international relations. We are also piloting new local committees, meant to immerse our delegates into local issues pertaining to innovation and technological advancement.
For our biggest change yet, for the first time ever we are thrilled to have you join us in Qatar’s Education City in Doha, a hub for education, diplomacy, and international dialogue.
Throughout our intensive three-day conference, students will work closely with their committees to debate briefings written by Harvard students and draft legislation to be presented in full sessions. Students have the opportunity to present their ideas to their peers and learn to compromise to get their legislation to pass.
We hope you will join us for HMCME this January. If you have any questions about registration or the conference, please reach out to info@hmcme.org or president@hmcme.org.
We will be opening registration for the 2026 conference in late July. We look forward to working with you in the months ahead!
Sincerely,
Salma Boukouj
