Executive Board

Our Executive Board for the 2024 conference is made up of enthusiastic Harvard students who are working hard to plan and organize the HMCME experience for all students.


President

Nabila Chowdhury is a senior from Detroit, Michigan studying Philosophy with a focus on Ethics and Justice. Nabila is passionate about gender issues and securing mental health and educational resources for underprivileged communities. In addition to HMC Middle East, she is an Education Intern for the Harvard College Women’s Center and conducts research on Cultural Evolution and the Psychology of Storytelling with the Harvard Department of Human Evolutionary Biology. In her downtime, she enjoys sitting in the sun reading poetry, and traveling with loved ones. She is excited to bring her experience in developmental education to HMCME for a safe and memorable conference!

Vice President

Laiba Khan is a junior at Harvard College in Eliot House studying Philosophy. She is from Brooklyn, New York, passionate about law, immigration, and ethics. Outside of Harvard Model Congress, she serves as a student academic integrity fellow for the Harvard Honor Council and a fellow under Harvard's Restorative Justice Fellowship. You can find her looking for a new coffee spot or playing Super Smash Bros. She is very excited to meet you all at HMC Middle East 2025!

 

Director of Programs

Laasya Chiduruppa is an incoming junior from Massachusetts pursuing a degree in Government and History. Outside of Model Congress, she writes for The Crimson and is involved in many civic engagement opportunities on campus. In her free time, she enjoys golfing and reading. She is super excited to serve as Director of Programs, and cannot wait to meet faculty and delegates at HMCME 2025!

Business Manager

Ella Dotzler is a Sophomore at Harvard College originally from the small town of Big Lake, Minnesota where she did ballet, tennis, city and state government, and created her local student government. Ella is planning to concentrate in Government and History. In addition to HMC Middle East, Ella serves on the board HMC Europe and loves getting involved in all HMC communities. Outside of HMC, Ella is very involved on the Harvard Crimson Business Board. She is so excited to meet you all at HMC Middle East 2025!

Faculty Liaison

Alexandra Oikonomou is a sophomore in Dunster House studying Government and Philosophy with a secondary in Psychology. She was born and raised in Athens, Greece and she is passionate about educational equity, disability advocacy, immigration policy, and international relations. Outside of HMC, she is involved with the Institute of Politics, the Phillips Brooks House Association, the Ethics Society, and she writes for the Crimson. In her free time, you can find her playing volleyball or bracing the cold Boston weather with a comically large jacket and a cup of hot chocolate while reading a book or writing by the Charles River. She is very excited to meet all the delegates and faculty of HMC Middle East 2025!

Director of Outreach and Scholarships

Elizabeth Ogolo is a Junior at Harvard College majoring in Neuroscience on the Mind, Brain, and Behavior Track with a citation in Spanish. In addition to HMC Middle East, she is the Vice President for the Phillips Brooks House Association. She is also a part of the Harvard Society of Black Scientists and Engineers, MEDLIFE Harvard chapter, and the Psychological Association for Underrepresented Students. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys playing her ukulele, learning new languages, and taking walks along the Charles River on campus.

Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Salma Boukouj is a sophomore at Harvard College studying Sociology and Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations. She is Moroccan-American, born and raised in Cambridge, MA. On campus, Salma is part of the Harvard Undergraduate Association, Harvard Model Congress, and the Society of Arab Students, but plans to further her involvement in other organizations. She is passionate about advocacy for marginalized groups, educational equity, and political representation. In her free time, Salma enjoys spending time with friends, traveling with family, and listening to music.

Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Arsema Aklog is a junior at Harvard College studying Sociology and Global Health & Health Policy with a citation in Amharic. She is originally from San Diego, California. Outside of HMCME, she works with the United Nations Development Programme, the Harvard Global Health Institute, and the Harvard Eritrean & Ethiopian Student Association. In her free time, she loves to cook Ethiopian food, go to the beach, and listen to jazz.

Chief of Staff

Gavin Lindsey is a Senior at Harvard College pursuing a double concentration in Environmental Science & Public Policy and Economics. He calls home to rural Western Colorado, which is where he devotes his interests in sustainability and especially water law. Besides HMCME, on campus Gavin is involved in a plethora of Environmental Organizations and is an advisor to first year students. Off campus he loves to travel and explore Boston as well as the greater surrounding areas! He looks forward to meeting you all in 2025!
